Author’s note: this is the same as the other Long Island post but laid out better…. I’m still learning how to use this web site!

Greeted by Bumper to Bumper traffic on the Cross Bronx Expressway, our first trip was to Long Island to visit close friends that I have not seen in over 10 years. Fred and I stayed with my dear old friends Lew and Karen. Fred did an amazing job endearing himself to them. While we were here, we took some walks on the Greenway, visited friends from many facets of my life, and even took a trip to the beach on our last full day.

Here’s a summary of all we did when we weren’t with Lew and Karen. I saw a lot of people, many of whom it’s been 25 years since. In all cases, it was like we didn’t skip a beat. I’m grateful for this time…

  • Dinner with Suzanne (high school bestie) @ Monday’s in Huntington. Fred got to play with Suzanne’s yellow lab while we visited with her parents in Greenlawn
  • Dinner with Annie (college roommate) @ Setauket Diner.  So much to catch up on!
  • Visit with my grandparents @ Beth Moses… the perennial care looks much better than last time I was there.
  • Trip to Huntington for some black & whites!
  • Visit with Kathy, Pete and Mona in Rocky Point. So many fun memories. Lunch with Kathy – PIZZA!  Oh and more black and whites from Tilda’s (thanks Kath)
  • Visit with my college chums in Port Jeff. Thanks to Dinah, Seth, Deb and Ellen for making the trip all the way out to Port.
  • Visit with my childhood neighbor/ years long family friends Merryl. Fred got to play with Buster. I ate vegan food and didn’t die…. admittedly it was pretty good!  😀
  • Dinner with some of my Dime peeps… Laura, Trish, Teresa (fka Pappas) and Michael. Sorry that TOD couldn’t join!

I accomplished all of my food goals for the trip:

  • Pizza
  • Diner
  • Italian
  • Chinese
  • Deli
  • Bagels
  • Black and white cookies

I hope to be back again in summer or fall to see so many others of you that I just didn’t get to.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t share some of the photos from the night flight that Lew and I took up the Hudson… it was a clear, beautiful evening.
