When friends recommended a campground in Independence, Missouri, I was anticipating being able to see all of the Harry Truman places – Library, Museum, etc. Of course once again I learned that COVID has all of the places closed. Fred and I were able to walk from the campground up to the Nolan and Truman Houses. The Nolan House was owned by Truman’s cousins and is located across the street from the Truman house, which was originally owned by Bess Truman’s grandparents. Eventually, Harry and Bess got together, years after meeting at the First Presbyterian Church, and moved into the Truman house.

Good news!  I’ve planned in advance for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and have a campground nearby on Thursday night AND a ticket to get in!
