Greeted by Bumper to Bumper traffic on the Cross Bronx Expressway, our first trip was to Long Island to visit close friends that I have not seen in over 10 years. Fred and I stayed with my dear old friends Lew and Karen Miller. Fred did an amazing job endearing himself to them. While we were here, we took some walking on the Greenway, visiting friends from many facets of my life, and even took a trip to the beach on our last full day here.

Additional Highlights of the trip included:
- A night flight with Lew over NYC on a beautifully clear evening
- Dinner with Annie, my college roommate…. 10 years since we’ve seen each other
- Dinner with Suzanne, my best friend from high school…Mondays in Huntington and a visit with her parents in Greenlawn. Fred met Suzanne’s dog Sean.
- A visit with dear family friends Pete, Mona and Kathy Herron at their home in Rocky Point, then lunch with Kathy. This was a special visit for me.
- A reunion with my college chums Annie, Deb, Dinah, Seth and Ellen in Port Jeff by the water. 25+ years since I’ve seen most of them… what a fun time catching up!
- A visit with family friend and childhood neighbor Merryl and her family in Smithtown. Been 25 years since we last saw each other that I can recall. Was a fun time and I even ate some vegan food and liked it! Fred came too and got to play with Buster!
- Dinner with some of my Dime friends – Laura, Teresa (fka Pappas), Tricia and Michael at Baci in Westbury. Been 12 years and more since I’ve seen this group. And as Laura said, we didn’t skip a beat. What a fun time catching up!
I accomplished all of my food goals for the trip:
- Pizza
- Diner
- Italian
- Chinese
- Bagels
- Black and white cookies
I hope to be back here during our journey to spend more time and to visit all of the people I didn’t get to see on this shorten trip

It’s sort of lemony tasting but not really. It’s firm. Publix doesn’t make the cake or the icing right
NY food is the best. You had all the food I miss when I am down here in Jax.

It was so great to see everyone after all these years! Looking forward to seeing your travels and living vicariously through you and Fred! Be careful and let’s do this again when you are back in town.
