We went to Bryce Canyon on Wednesday, May 12th. I really liked the landscape there better than at Zion. They’re very different – Bryce is made up of the red rocks that come straight up out of the ground, referred to as Hoodoos. For me, this was more impressive than the big canyons of Zion, which were incredibly impressive all the same.

At Bryce, dogs are allowed on the “shared use” path (horse, bike, human) but this doesn’t really come anywhere near the canyon rim. They are allowed on one stretch of rim trail between Sunrise Point and Sunset Point, so we hiked over to that area for some impressive views.

After returning to the car, we drove the 18 mile scenic byway to the end, then back tracked to view the various overlooks. Rainbow Point is the far end, then Ponderosa Point and a few others.

I didn’t catch the name of this one, but I thought the way the top slanted up and away from the lower portion was pretty cool.  I had to climb up onto the rocks at the overlook to get these photos.

I thought Natural Bridge was stunning. Before you get to the railing at the overlook, you really don’t know what you’re in for. And the imagery of seeing the trees down below through the bridge is very cool.

Oh and the people who took the photo of Fred and me may have actually had Fred as part of their photo collection as well.  😉
