I originally traveled to the Ashland, VA area so I could attend an agility trial hosted by MADCO in Mechanicsville. When I finished up the Pals & Paws trial in Jacksonville in March, I said it was possible that I would ‘show up at a trial near you.” Well this trial was very convenient for my location and the timing worked, so there I went. Keeping in mind that Fred hasn’t done any form of agility training since we visited with our friends in Vermont in early July, he did pretty well. His Aframe and Teeter were MIA, and his backside skill isn’t very strong, but he still makes a good team dog and our team managed a 3rd place! Also, he had a fabulous Steeplechase run, right up until I literally sent him left over the start jump instead of right over the finish jump…. OOPS!! I did have video of a few runs but as is my tradition, I don’t feel any burning need to share them here. I got to see a few friends that I haven’t seen in a long while at the show… Lynn, Lynne, Elise, Ashley, Sue… and made some new friends as well.
While in the area, I traveled over to New Kent, VA to spend a couple of hours at the TBC Farm, visiting with Mookie’s breeder and Fred’s parent’s breeder…. Karen Thompson. We had a nice time catching up on the many changes made to the farm since I’d been there 15 years ago, and just chatting about life in general. Sad to say that I neglected to get any pictures.
Also, I got to visit with my former co-worker and partner in crime Betsy and her husband Ron. Another instance of catching up like it hadn’t been over 20 years since we’d been together. Maybe we can do it again in less than 20 years!
After the agility trial, we headed to Charlottesville, Virginia. Oh and I do have one photo…. Of Fred completely passed out on the way after the show!
